Neutral Vintage Spring Farmhouse Mantel

Transitioning decor through the seasons is one of my favorite tasks, this week we are tackling our mantel. We had a lot of these colors and textures already up here but we wanted to give it a bit of a facelift. Our last look was early spring when the world hasn't quite woken up yet and nature still has a bit of that winter chill. For this one, we wanted to give a nod to spring planting, and new life while still keeping those rich neutral tones.

We kept the clock and the books at the center of the mantel, we placed a cute framed picture of our ducklings on one side and a creamy mock french birdcage on the other. We placed some cute nests here and there with blown quail eggs and a little duckling figurine. On either side of that, we sat our egg wreaths and small terracotta pots filled with moss in it that we nested our chicken and bluebird figurines in. I think it gives it such a classic farmhouse feel!

Farmhouse Spring Mantel

Spring is in the air around here, the Bradford pear trees in the neighborhood are about to burst into full bloom and the tulips we planted last year are poking through the soil to show off their own colors. Spring is probably my favorite season, I love the colors and the freshness of new beginnings so of course, I had to bring some of those same colors from outdoors into our living room. 

For this look, we placed galvanized buckets filled with light pink miniature roses on either side of the fireplace. I hung this sweet welcome to our nest sign we picked up on sale at Hobby Lobby last year from the center of the mantel I love the feel it gives this space. I strung our egg garland across the length of the mantel [Check out our tutorial to make your own]. In the center of the mantel, we sat this gorgeous framed porch shot.

To this side of the mantel, we placed crocks filled with gorgeous live flowers and a crown of thorns. It's getting close to Easter so I wanted to incorporate that into our decorating.

On this end, I filled a galvanized bucket with reindeer moss and hot pink hydrangeas, I also added a piece of garden art from our yard with a piece of greenery wrapped around it. On the inside, I placed a crystal cross and sweet little nest to keep with that spring look we've been going with around the house.

Spring Farmhouse Porch

My favorite thing about spring? The flowers! I love incorporating live plants in our decor, it's a unique challenge of layering colors textures, nature and faux to make something beautiful. We had a great time redecorating our porch for spring, and got to put all the plants we've been picking up on clearance at Kroger to good use!

Around the door, we hung a grapevine garland with a flower garland woven around it to add a pop of color to our dark door. We also used an adorable heart hanging basket filled with tulips instead of a traditional wreath. I love the sweet spring feeling it gives this whole area.

To one side of the door, we placed our Victorian Trading Company wagon with crocks and galvanized bucket filled with beautiful flowers. It reminds of a sweet outdoor flower market Mr. Cottage took a picture of while in Germany. We also filled another galvanized container with hot pink hydrangeas and reindeer moss and placed it in front of the wagon.

On the other side of the porch, we sat this cute chippy bench kitty corner, with some cozy throw pillows and some adorable cottage garden decor. We took a short piece of green leaf garland and loosely wrapped it around the pieces from the garden to make it feel a little more like spring. Next, to it, we sat another galvanized bucket filled with mini roses and a grow sign. It makes this space feel so warm and inviting.
