This is totally natural and is disinfecting and it really helps to make your towels more absorbent.
Add 1 cup of vinegar
to your cycle for soft fabric. 
It will also help to lock in the color of your clothing so they do not fade on one another if you sometimes have a habit of not separating your laundry and making your whites the color of your dad's jeans... uh, um. Moving on, right?
