Valentine's Day Living Room

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and since its frigid outside we are hanging out inside which means at some point or another decorating/redecorating will be happening around here. We're in the middle of decorating our mantel, so we thought we would share our living room from last year featuring a beautiful set of wings from Decor Steals.

Across the mantel, we placed cone trees and silver candlesticks with some beautiful flocked & berry garland. Above we hung a pair of gorgeous wooden wings. In the middle of our mantel, we also hung this adorable heart shaped chalkboard.

On our crate coffee table, we placed a white bucket full of dried hydrangeas just for a touch of colors to help us pretend its warm outside!

We kept our crisp white couch covers and added some throw pillows to add to the cozy feel of the room

Orchard Harvest Tablescape

You guys it FINALLY feels like fall!!! I walked out on the porch this morning and nearly squealed (that could because I was wearing overalls and a tank top and it was a bit chilly), the windows are now thrown open throughout the house to let the cool air in and the sun is shining inticing me out into the garden.

Part of me is sad to see summer go, and the orchard prepare for a long sleep, in the coming days we'll be pulling out the last of our tomato plants. We've spent so much time and energy out here, shifting into the fall months is always a little sad- but I'm so looking forward to the colorful leaves of fall! Last few years we had really bad droughts so when cooler temps came around everything was already brown and had died back, but this year everything is still very green and gorgeous! We're hoping for some stunning colors!

Another thing to look forward to is the harvest, the last of the summer veggies and bushels of apples and pears! Keeping up with a garden and orchard is a lot of work- but moments like this make all the cold fingers, sore mussels and sunburns worth it.

This table practically glows with all the warm colors of fall! Ladden down with adorable baskets of apples and tarnished silver candlesticks. We also ran a strand of gorgeous sunflower garland to add a bit of foliage.

We found this table years ago at a yard sale, we brought it home with the intention of painting it and reselling it but we fell in love with its chippy butter yellow color and held on to it.

We placed two of the chairs from our wicker set on either end of the table, I love how delicate they are next to the solid table.

You guys know vintage linens are our love language so of course, we had to use one of them on this table. We went with a delicate white lace.

What do you think? What is your favorite thing about fall?

Our Fall Porch Steps

The rain has finally let up- which means I got to decorate our front porch with all the pumpkins we brought home from the Amish! To say I'm excited would be a huge understatement. Pumpkins make me absolutely giddy- just ask Mr. Cottage. I've been pinning fall decor since mid-August preparing for this moment! If you haven't checked out our Fall Decor board you really should!

I love all the seasons for different reasons, spring for its breath of new life, summer for its warm long days spent enjoying people and things I love, winter for its harsh beauty but the glorious colors of fall will always have a special place in my heart. It reminds me of how even when we are in a season of change there is beauty to be found if we only trust Him and look.

We went with a very different porch approach to our front porch decor this year, I had planned to keep it very neutral with white mums and pumpkins... but I got one look at those adorable orange pumpkins at Aldi and that plan went on its way.

We went with a mix of real and artificial pumpkins in blues / gray / greens, white/cream, and orange with mums we found on clearance at Walmart and Lowes in the cozy warm colors of fall and sprinkled them in here and there. Sadly the deer got to my pumpkin plants so none of these are from our garden but we'll be saving the seeds from these beauties for our garden next year.

We went with these really gorgeous burgundy mums that pull out the color of the brick on the first and third tier. We placed them in these gorgeous urns we picked up at Aldi a few years back and galvanized buckets from Lowes. In between the two rows, we placed these bright yellow mums. I just love the bright pop of color! Below the buckets, we used these adorable creamy-pink mums.

When we bought these mums most of them hadn't bloomed all the way and they were in the clearance section marked well below their normal price. Don't be afraid to snag those great deals- usually its nothing some fertilizer can't fix. We got most of our flowers for the yard this year of those racks and it has saved us a ton of money.

We randomly stacked the pumpkins here and there on the steps, I tried to mirror the other side as much as possible. We found a great deal on pumpkins when we were up at the Amish a couple weeks back so we ended up coming home with a bunch of beautiful and very unique pumpkins.

In the little gaps here and there we placed these itty bitty pumpkins from the Dollar Tree that I chalk painted.

Around the door, we used our homemade grapevine garland wrapped with leaf garland from dollar tree. We also used things like dried okra and pine cones to spruce it up a little.

Fall just wouldn't be fall without this gorgeous pumpkin wreath! It's tradition around here, every year it finds its place right here. I love how it stands out against our black door.
