Let Your Roots Grow

I don't know about you but I am counting the days until its time to garden, I just love watching things grow. Something every gardener knows is that in order to have a healthy plant you need strong roots, so that they can feed the plant and keep it upright as it starts to grow.

If you have ever lifted a packet of tomatoes at a store you'll notice that the roots have escaped the confines of the pot and grown down into the tray searching for something more. Those roots are the lifeline of the plant, they absorb what is in the soil around them for better or worse.
Rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:7 NIV
In much the same we absorb what is around us for better or worse, when we root ourselves in Him we absorb His presence. In the same way the roots of the plants must expand and seek new territory the roots of our life, our faith should be growing, ever seeking a stronger relationship with God.

Those roots are what will hold us firmly upright when the storm comes seeking to uproot us. Where are your roots? Which way are they growing? Are they strong? The only way that plant is staying upright is if they grow deep and wide, just out will not keep her upright when the winds pummel her branches.

We have to seek God in every area of our life, He must be the center if we ever wish to stay standing. The only way to do this is spending time with Him, spending time in the word and in prayer. Growing toward Him.
