When God Gives Us A New Dream - Le'nae Brooks

At twenty-five years old God restored my dream of becoming a teacher. Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to teach. I used to put my teddy bears on the floor, and write on the wall (my chalkboard), as if I was in a classroom. I used to get made fun of, but I loved the feeling of one day being in front of a classroom. Sadly, when I grew up that dream went down the drain. I was held back in Elementary school, in that moment, my mindset went from positive to negative. I really believed that I was not smart enough to become a teacher. I struggled in school and did not care because I thought I was going nowhere.

I graduated high school and headed off to community college. I got involved with a guy and dropped out of school. I really was lost that year, and I am so grateful that God saved me from that relationship. I started to work full time while trying to find a career path. I tried massage therapy, dental assistant, and physical therapy aide. Here I was lost once again, and seeking God for what to do with my life.

Fast forward to 2014. I was driving home from church, and I had a flashback of me teaching the teddy bears lol. In that moment, I knew what God was telling me. Teaching was not just my passion, but my gift! I had it all planned out in my head. Two years of community college then transfer to Bowie State University. In August of 2015, I went to Bowie State to meet with an academic advisor, and God showed me what His plans were. You can read about that here. To make a long story short I am ready to finish up my spring semester at Bowie!!!!! Guess what I am studying? English with a minor in Secondary Education!!!!!!!!

Ecclesiastes 3 (NLT)
A Time for Everything
For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven
A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.

God is amazing! I had to let go of the past to come face to face with the truth. I am smart, and I am very capable of being an educator. Ever since then everything has been working out for my good. My tuition is paid for, my grades are excellent, and I feel alive in this season! All of my praises go to God because if it was not for His grace, promises, love, and plan; I would still be lost.
